Meet the Artist: Singer/Songwriter Randy Fulk

From the age of eight, Randy Fulk worked with his family on the tobacco farm where he grew up. During harvest celebrations and on Saturday nights he played guitar and accompanied his Aunt Bessie on banjo and Uncle Joe on fiddle playing old time ballads.

Putting Her Best Foot Forward

Ellenor Eubanks Shepherd is a competitive ballroom dancer, and at 81 she’s twirled into regional, national and international spotlights. “It stretches all parts of your body while you keep moving," says Ellenor. "You have to keep up with the music, so you have to stay mentally flexible as well as physically flexible.” She lives in Greensboro and trains at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio on Mill Street.

Film at RiverRun Looks at Triad Native's Impact on Esquire Magazine

Thousands of people are visiting Winston-Salem this week for the 15th annual River Run International Film Festival.  More than 140 films, from 35 different countries are being shown at several venues throughout the city through April 21.

One of the films featured at the event is a documentary called Smiling through the Apocalypse: Esquire in the Sixties. Wake Forest University alumnus Tom Hayes produced and directed the film. WFDD’s Keri Brown talked with Hayes by phone from his home in New York City.
