Guilford County Schools officials are reviewing recommendations in a new facilities master plan.

The $2 billion proposal includes safety and technology upgrades at every school in the district. And there's a lot more.

More than 40 schools would be either rebuilt or fully renovated. Seven new sites would also be constructed. That includes an additional high school in the rapidly growing northwest part of the county. Major rebuilding projects for Page and Southern high schools are also on the list

Guilford County Schools officials say the goal is to eliminate 500 mobile and temporary classrooms and make investments that will last for years to come.

Early next year, they will hold Information sessions and launch an online survey to seek feedback from the community.

This new proposal builds off of a 2018 report that assessed the condition of school buildings. It rated nearly half of the district's facilities in poor or unsatisfactory conditions.
