Forsyth County Senior Services has a new place for people of all ages to come together for creative and artistic endeavors.

The over 62,000-square-foot Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness in Winston-Salem
will house more than 20 organizations, including the Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Day Center, which provides care for adults with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia.

The hallway connecting all partners is nicknamed “Main Street” because of its downtown-like appearance including a rendition of Sawtooth School for Visual Arts painted just as it appears on Spruce Street.

T. Lee Covington is President and CEO of Senior Services. He says the idea started about five years ago as a way to bring people of different age groups together to join in the creative process.

"We hope that the more that folks are able to spend time in the space and spend time with one another that it creates relationships that may start in the generational center but hopefully will spill out to the neighborhoods and communities around us,” he says.

The center also includes Novant Health clinics addressing such needs as family medicine, diabetes management, heart care and nutrition counseling.
