The Hispanic Arts Initiative brings together diverse audiences through programs like Punto de Vista-Latino Perspective. This month's cultural journey through art is a collaboration with Winston-Salem Delta Fine Arts. The art gallery and cultural center in East Winston showcases the contributions of African-Americans. The opening reception will feature dance performances by three HAI couples with Latin dances that reflect the African influence on Latino culture: salsa, merengue and bachata. On display will be a wide variety of paintings and sculpture by Latino artists depicting traditional themes as well as abstract works. Winston-Salem Delta Fine Arts Executive Director Nadiyah Quander, says art can be a great tool in building bridges between communities. She's joined by Hispanic Arts Initiative Executive Director Maria Sanchez Boudy.

This unique collaboration is Punto de Vista-Latino Perspectives III (A Cultural Journey Through Art). The diverse exhibition will feature paintings and sculpture depicting traditional themes and abstract works from all across Latin America. The opening reception will also feature dancers in elaborate native costumes performing traditional Latino dances that reflect African influence. That's Friday, September 5th from 6-8. It's free and open to the public, refreshments will be served and there'll be a cash bar.
