Winston-Salem based musician, actress, and photographer Haydee Thompson had a challenging 2014. The bassist of her band Wilde Blood left to sail across the Atlantic. That same week her father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, to which he succumbed 10 weeks later. Haydee then lost her job, and her romantic relationship dissolved as well.

Finding herself figuratively floating, Haydee soon found herself literally floating on the deck of The Makara - the catamaran that her friends Tyler & Kasia Reeder & Jacob Leonard sailed across the Atlantic.  She turned to her camera to document the experience, and the resulting images make up the photo exhibition "Wanderlust."

"Wanderlust" will be on display through December 15th at the gallery in Krankies Coffee in Winston-Salem. Eddie spoke with Haydee at the gallery, surrounded by the photographic evidence of her adventure.

The music you hear in today's show is Haydee's, and it was written and recorded at sea.
