It's been a busy year for Guilford Technical Community College. A new aviation training building opened near the airport in August. And its fifth campus also opened in Northwest Guilford County in August.

The Donald W. Cameron campus, which is is designed to  focus on distribution and logistics, opened in August.

Katie Arcieri, a reporter with the Triad Business Journal, writes about this training facility this week in her cover story.

She says GTCC's new aviation center will accommodate the work force needs of tenants at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

“The growth in aviation training reflects an increasing recognition of the industry cluster as an important part of the Triad's overall economic future," she says. “ The new Cameron campus could attract big companies in the manufacturing and aviation industries that need skilled workers fast.”
