Honda Aircraft Company officially announced Friday it will expand its operations at Piedmont Triad International Airport, bringing nearly 300 new jobs to Greensboro.

On Thursday, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners approved more than $700,000 in incentives for the project. Earlier this week, Greensboro City Council approved an additional $420,000.

Councilman Hugh Holston said the expansion was outstanding for Greensboro and its taxpayers.

"Now, Greensboro is jet-setting across the world," Holston said. "This is the result of all the investments that this council and our taxpayers have made."

Mayor Nancy Vaughan said almost $4 million in incentives approved by the state was contingent on the county and city council's votes.

Honda Aircraft Company plans to manufacture its new HondaJet 2600 model at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

According to the city council's agenda, the company has until the end of 2027 to fulfill its $55 million capital investment and 280 jobs pledges or the incentives will expire.
