The governor's veto on the religious beliefs and gay marriages bill still stands. The North Carolina House adjourned for the weekend without formally deciding whether to cancel the veto.
The vetoed bill was listed on the House agenda Thursday but not acted upon for a second day in a row. If over-ridden, the law would allow some government officials to avoid performing gay marriages because of religious beliefs.
House Rules Chairman David Lewis says a vote hasn't occurred because a few members were absent this week. Lewis also acknowledged some fellow Republicans are on the fence about an override.
McCrory told reporters Thursday he believes there's arm-twisting going on in the House and a vote should be performed in a reasonable period of time.
Lewis says the bill will remain on the daily agenda until a vote or Speaker Tim Moore decides there will be no vote.
