"><figcaption><span>(Adobe stock photo)</span></figcaption></figure><p>State officials have announced three programs aimed at strengthening healthcare technology in rural areas. </p><p>They're the result of a collaboration between the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the state Department of Information Technology.</p><p>One initiative allocates $20 million annually to help rural providers assess digital needs and modernize infrastructure.</p><p>A second program helps providers connect to the statewide health information network, streamlining the process of accessing and sharing medical records.</p><p>And the third allows rural residents to build their health literacy through online, phone-based and in-person support.</p><p>Officials say the modernization project will help bridge gaps in underserved communities and provide patients with easier navigation through the health care system.&nbsp;<br><b>&nbsp;</b></p>]]></content:encoded>
