Wake Forest University has closed its chapter of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity because of multiple violations of the Student Code of Conduct. 

According to a university statement, the decision follows an administrative hearing last week. The release cites a failure by the fraternity to follow a mutually-agreed-upon social events risk management plan, hosting an unauthorized keg party, and a repeated lack of compliance with the directions of university officials.

As a result, Delta Kappa Epsilon will not be recognized at the University. The chapter will be eligible to apply for recognition again within the University's fraternity and sorority community in May, 2022. According to the press release, "Wake Forest may choose to recognize Delta Kappa Epsilon again, but only after a continuous four-year period of non-operation."

The decision to close the chapter is not related to two anonymous reports of sexual assault alleged to have taken place at the fraternity's house on Polo Road.

Because neither anonymous report identified any victims, possible assailants or witnesses, and there has been no new information since the reports were made, there is no investigation.

Two reports of a sexual assault have been filed in connection with a fraternity at Wake Forest University that had already been under scrutiny.

The assault allegedly took place September 14th at the Psi Delta chapter of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity house.

According to a Wake Forest press release, campus police received two reports about the incident on September 16th. The university community was notified the next day, in accordance with the Clery Act.

Officials don't know if the anonymous reports are about one incident or two separate events. It's also not yet known how many people may be involved.

The fraternity had been moved from deferred suspension to interim suspension following a report of an unregistered party at the chapter house on September 1st.  

Investigations into unregistered parties are underway. 

The interim suspension status means the fraternity could face a longer suspension or losing official recognition altogether.  

Correction: An earlier version of this story said that an investigation into both the unregistered parties and the alleged sexual assault is underway. Since neither anonymous report regarding identified the victim, possible assailants or witnesses, police are unable to begin an official investigation unless additional information becomes available.
