Winston-Salem State Chancellor Elwood Robinson will speak with the nation's top infectious disease expert Tuesday morning.

Robinson will speak with Dr. Anthony Fauci as part of a new radio program from WSSU called Future Focus Now.

Fauci became the top scientific voice of fighting the pandemic while serving with the White House Coronavirus Task Force. He frequently appeared at regular press briefings with President Donald Trump.

But the two men often differed on such issues as when it's safe to reopen the economy, and Fauci in recent weeks has had a lower profile.

He has continued to offer his thoughts through media interviews, some of which clash with the administration's views. Last week, Fauci speculated that there may not be an NFL season because of a potential second wave of the outbreak. Trump weighed in on Twitter, saying Fauci doesn't have anything to do with pro football.

Fauci has advised six presidents on the science of infectious diseases, notably HIV/AIDS. He is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health

Robinson's interview will be broadcast live at 8 a.m. on the Facebook page of Winston-Salem State's radio station, WSNC.
