A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Triad until noon Thursday. Snowfall totals are expected to be anywhere from 4-8 inches but snow is expected to taper off in the morning hours, mixing in with some freezing precipitation.
Many area schools are closed, and road conditions are hazardous.
Power outages are concern this morning, as heavy wet snow is causing stress to power lines. As of 7:30 a.m., Duke Energy is reporting many customers affected by outages in much of the the Triad:
Forysth: 8,376
Guilford County: 5,866
Larry Kirby, the village manager of Clemmons, says people should stay off the roads to let crews get their work done.
"We are seeing a little bit of melting, but we're also having new snow fall on it to recover," says Kirby. "The citizens need to hunker down and listen to what the governor said in his news conference yesterday. Check on neighbors, look after each other and stay home for the day."
