WFDD held its second Virtual Community Conversation on Thursday, convening a panel of 5 regional education experts to discuss back-to-school challenges created by the pandemic. The conversation was moderated by WFDD reporter Keri Brown, whose beats include education, and streamed live on YouTube.

The discussion covered access to broadband and devices for remote learning, how feeding programs for children facing food insecurity might be handled, support for working families, and many other issues.

We spoke with these panelists:

Malishai "Shai" Woodbury, Chair of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School Board
Ronda Mays, Social Worker for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools
Dr. Scott Elliott, Watauga County Schools Superintendent
Dr. Sharon Contreras, Guilford County Schools Superintendent
Todd Warren, President of the Guilford County Association of Educators
