North Carolina is launching an initiative aimed at serving active-duty military, veterans and their families. The state's Division of Veteran's Affairs is calling the project a “one-stop-shop” information resource.
Governor Pat McCrory's office announced Monday that the state has established NC4VETS, a program being launched in conjunction with other state agencies.
The Associated Press reports the first major product is the NC4Vets Resource Guide, an inter-agency catalog detailing jobs, education benefits and health services across the state. The NC4VETS Resource Guide is part of a multimedia effort that includes a website and toll-free call center.
McCrory announced the program during a trip to the North Carolina Veterans Home in Salisbury, where he presented the state's Order of the Long Leaf Pine to a 103-year-old veteran.
The Governor also has scheduled Veteran's Day plans to visit the Granville County town of Butner. McCrory is touting a new partnership with the towns Veterans Life Center to provide housing and services to homeless veterans.
