ORIGINAL STORY

At least one victim has been taken to the hospital after a shooting on Wake Forest University's Reynolda campus.

University officials reported the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. Saturday at a recreational building known as The Barn.

The campus emergency system called Wake Alert sent a message to students and staff at 2:03 a.m. about an "armed and dangerous person on campus" and told students to "seek shelter now."

An update about 20 minutes later said police were seeking a suspect in a shooting at The Barn. The message told individuals to stay in place and if off campus, to stay away.

At 2:46 a.m. Wake Alert indicated that police were on the scene and the search for a suspect was ongoing. The university also said a shooting victim has been taken to the hospital and that students who were off campus were now allowed to return.
