The Piedmont Triad is getting another taste of the 2016 presidential race this week, as Republican candidate Ben Carson will visit Winston-Salem Tuesday.

Carson is scheduled to speak at Berean Baptist Church, 4135 Thomasville Rd., around 1:00 p.m.

According to church officials, seats for the event went quickly, and they now say they're setting up outdoor overflow space for people who want to hear the candidate speak.

Carson's Winston-Salem visit comes on the heels of a scheduled appearance at Victory Junction in Randolph County on Monday.

Carson is the second presidential hopeful to visit the Triad this month. Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders stumped in Greensboro after the National Folk Festival.

According to the latest Elon University poll, Carson is in a statistical dead-heat for the lead with Donald Trump among North Carolina Republican voters.

Nationwide, the Real Clear Politics average of recent national polling shows Trump leading Carson by about six points.
