Blues and Jewel tones are popular colors this season at the High Furniture Point Market.

This is fashion week in High Point. The Spring Furniture Market kicked off Saturday.

The High Point Furniture Market showcases the latest trends and styles in the furniture industry. Market organizers say lots of accent color, like indigo, aquamarine and yellow are popular this season. Gray is considered the new neutral.

Tom Conley,  President and CEO of the High Point Market Authority, says a stronger housing market is having a positive impact on this season’s furniture show.

“One of the biggest landlords here in town, tells us they are having a lot of sales, so there are a bunch of new vendors here. We also have seen existing vendors that have expanded and moved, so there are some exciting new showrooms. We are seeing a lot of new product here,” says Conley.

Conley says the market draws more than 70,000 people to the High Point area.

“The economic impact is estimated to be $1.2 billion per year. That is equivalent to about two Super Bowls. We have a huge amount of business that comes into not just to the Triad, but into the entire state. We have visitors from throughout the U.S. and more than 100 countries. This is truly a global market with a global outreach,” says Conley.

Nearly 2,000 vendors from several different countries are participating in the event. The High Point Furniture Market runs through Thursday, April 25.
