An Italian pet food company is setting up shop in Rockingham County.

Farmina Pet Food USA announced on Tuesday it will place its North American Headquarters and manufacturing operations in Reidsville. According to a news release from Governor Roy Cooper, the company expects to create 129 jobs and spend over $28M on capital investments over five years.

The family-owned business is based in Italy and offers high-end food for cats and dogs. It's one of several companies to announce expansion plans in Rockingham County over the past few months.

In September, Nestle Purina Petcare Co. confirmed plans to convert the former MillerCoors plant in Eden into a pet food manufacturing facility, promising a $450M investment.

And just this week the Ruger firearms manufacturer announced it will expand its facility in Mayodan, creating 60 additional jobs.
