The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services' website for Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Services is now available in Spanish.

The enhancements to the state's ePASS website come at a time when COVID-19 cases continue to rise, and the Latino population is still seeing high infection rates.

The hope is that this new option will allow Spanish-speaking North Carolinians to fill out forms from home that were previously only available on paper and in-person.

Officials with NCDHHS say that removing the language barrier online allows them to efficiently direct health and food assistance services while keeping social distancing measures in place.

Additional website improvements include streamlined questions, in-form guidance, personalized account dashboards, and links to voter registration information.

The Spanish-language version will remain in place after the pandemic. Any questions about existing applications should be directed to county departments of social services.
