Singer/songwriter Heather Maloney has a dynamic, expressive sound that she says is influenced by "adventure folk."

Her lyrics, as The Huffington Post writes, "cut to the chase." Music writer and New York Times contributor Val Haller noticed her voice - "if I'd closed my eyes" she writes, "it could have been Joni Mitchell." Haller's right, check out Maloney's cover of Mitchell's "Woodstock" done in collaboration with Darlingside.

Maloney performed last November at the Roots Revival Concert Series in Winston-Salem. At the time, she was working on her now available album "Making Me Break." I spoke with Maloney prior to the performance. Bethany began by asking her when she began her journey as a singer/songwriter.

Heather will be on tour this fall with Willie Watson with several North Carolina shows on the schedule.
