North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory says he'll talk with President Barack Obama about getting the flexibility to shape a state-specific health care plan. The governor spoke about his plans to hundreds of business leaders on Monday.
McCrory says he'll meet with Obama in Washington on Tuesday with other members of the National Governors Association. The Republican governor says the topics he wants to discuss with the president include "being allowed to develop our own program."
McCrory didn't specifically say he'll discuss the kind of waivers to Medicaid regulations allowed to some of the 10 GOP-led states that have decided to expand Medicaid under Obama's health care law.
The governor said he's open to expanding Medicaid coverage for the poor after a revamp to control costs in the $14 billion federal-state medical program.
