Gardening experts and enthusiasts from throughout the state are getting ready for the annual North Carolina Extension Master Gardener Conference May. This year's event will be held at the Hawthorne Inn & Conference Center in Winston-Salem.

The Forsyth County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program is partnering with chapters in Davidson, Davie, Guilford and Surry Counties to host the statewide education conference.

Harriet McCarthy, one of the event organizers, recently spoke with WFDD's Keri Brown to talk about their plans and how master gardeners are having an impact on communities in the Tar Heel state.

The registration deadline for the 2014 North Carolina Extension Master Gardener Conference, Picture the Piedmont is April 1.
