What if you finished a book and instead of putting it back on your shelf, you dove into two months of activities inspired by that writing? You took field trips and attended book clubs, watched films related to the subject matter, and met your neighbors, who like you, had also read the same book.

Well, that's exactly what happens every other year when Greensboro Public Library hosts One City, One Book. This year community members are encouraged to pick up Bill Bryson's account of his hike on the Appalachian Trail titled A Walk in the Woods.

Greensboro's One City, One Book kicks off this Saturday with a walk on the Downtown Greenway at 10am followed by a kickoff party at the central branch on N. Church Street. On Sunday, hiker, author, and adventure speaker Jennifer Pharr Davis will be speaking at the Greensboro Historical Museum at 3pm. Jennifer holds the fasted known time for the Appalachian Trail.

Greensboro Public Library Director Brigitte Blanton and Adult Programming Coordinator Beth Sheffield joined Bethany to talk about this community literary festival.
