Greensboro could see changes to its downtown parking in the coming year as city officials respond to new needs.

Planning and design consultant firm Kimley-Horn has been brought on to lead the efforts. Greensboro has seen a decrease in demand for office parking since the pandemic, says Jeshua Pringle, parking planner with Kimley-Horn. A city survey showed a need for increased on-street parking and city parking facilities.

Pringle says redeveloping surface lots could improve Greensboro's parking system. Updating signage and expanding parking facilities' hours are other proposed changes.

Pringle also says city officials will focus on safety and enhancing the customer experience in the coming year.

Kimley-Horn is working with Greensboro to determine a timeline for further improvements.
