Officials in Greensboro say a police officer has been shot during a traffic stop.

Spokeswoman Susan Danielsen of the Greensboro Police Department said the shooting occurred Friday afternoon around 4:30 on the southwest side of the city in the vicinity of Bernau Avenue and Baker Street.

Danielson said the officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment. She said a second person was shot during the incident, but Danielsen said it's not clear if that shooting was related to the officer's shooting.

Police are on scene interviewing witnesses and gathering information.
