Flooding Damages More Than 400 Properties in Catawba County
The cleanup continues in after last weekend's flash floods. Parts of Catawba, Lincoln and Cleveland received up to a foot of rain Saturday.
The resulting flash floods were blamed for two deaths in Caldwell County.
On Tuesday, Catawba County officials formally requested disaster assistance from North Carolina for hundreds of victims of last weekend's flash floods.
In a letter sent to the state Division of Emergency Management, they outlined flood damage to more than 475 properties.
The main facility for the Hickory Foundation YMCA has been closed until further notice, after the facility suffered extensive water damage Saturday.
