Winston-Salem City Council Member Dan Besse has launched another bid for the State House of Representatives.

Besse formally announced his candidacy for a House seat on Sunday.

The Democrat will run in House District 75 for a seat currently held by Republican Donny Lambeth. Besse lost to Lambeth in the 2018 election.

A campaign press release says Besse will focus on affordable health care, education, jobs, and a clean environment.

In the release, Besse also praised last week's state court decision mandating new legislative district maps, calling it “a major victory for democracy in North Carolina.”

A new district map has not yet been drawn up, and it's uncertain who will be Besse's opponent in 2020.
