California is the latest state to limit travel to North Carolina because of House Bill 2.

Governor Jerry Brown on Tuesday signed a bill prohibiting state agencies from sending employees to states that have discriminatory laws, particularly on the basis of sexual orientation or sexual identity.

The law effectively bans state-funded travel to North Carolina, or any other state that may adopt policies similar to HB2, which struck down measures protecting LGBT people. HB2 also mandates which bathrooms transgender people can use.

The Sacramento Bee reports that because the bill applies to the University of California and the California State University system, it may affect travel by college sports teams.

It may also limit travel for conferences or training.

Five other states have taken similar measures since HB2 was passed in March.
