An aircraft maintenance company has announced an expansion near Piedmont Triad International Airport. TAT Piedmont Aviation plans to create 85 jobs as it increases its services.

The expansion was announced by Governor Roy Cooper on Monday. TAT Piedmont Aviation is investing almost $13 million in further developing its Guilford County facilities, widening its services as an aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company.

According to a news release, the company has been in operation for six decades, with clients including Boeing, Delta Airlines, and FedEx.

A TAT official says that the upgrade and expansion will enhance the company’s footprint in the region.

The new positions are expected to offer an average wage of over $51,000, with the expansion estimated to add over $4 million to the area’s annual economy.

North Carolina Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders released a statement crediting companies such as TAT Piedmont Aviation with keeping the worldwide aviation and aerospace industry focused on Greensboro and the Piedmont Triad.
