Across the Blue Ridge - New Takes On Old Music

This week's Across the Blue Ridge treats us to field and studio recordings of historic musicians from the 1920s to the 1990s; contrasts between old and new renditions of classic tunes.  Our featured musicians include harmonica player Bill Blackley, recorded in a tavern in North Carolina; and fiddler Megan Lynch Chowning and banjo player Adam Hurt.  Chowning and Hurt are prize-winning performers whose new recording, Inside Out, features their takes on fiddle tunes from Texas, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee and the Blue Ridge.  Host Paul Brown shares a conversation with Adam Hurt on the objectives of the album and how it all came together. We'll also hear some great old time and bluegrass songs performed by Red Allen, The Strange Creek Singers – and Craver, Hicks, Watson and Newberry, our upcoming guests at Muddy Creek Music Hall on April 24, 2016.
