This week, our host Paul Brown brings in a collection of fabulous fiddle tunes old and new, including one from Erynn Marshall's new album of her own composed tunes.  A band made up primarily of immigrants from Ireland and Italy puts across some great old time American tunes.  And fiddler Rafe Stefanini, who emigrated from Italy to the U.S. because he loved old time music, tells us about how he thought up the idea for the Immigrant Band album, and how he named it – calling on words from a song that was a favorite of North Carolina's Tommy Jarrell.   American old-time and bluegrass music reaches around the globe these days, and this week's show lets us feel the love. Plus … we hear some exciting yet poignant field recordings made from the 1940s into the 1960s.  They're just a little scratchy, but good, transporting us to times gone by.
