1. GRIM NEW DEATH TOLL IN SYRIA    The UN says at least 93,000 have been confirmed killed in the civil war, with the real number likely being far higher.

2. NSA HEAD SAYS SPY PROGRAM STOPPED TERROR ATTACKS    Army Gen. Keith Alexander told Congress that the collection of millions of telephone and Internet records foiled a 2009 plot to bomb New York's subways. 

3. ERDOGAN LOOKS FOR WAY OUT OF TURKEY'S PROTEST CRISIS   The death toll from the 2-week-old demonstrations that have tested Recep Tayyip Erdogan's authority rose to five.

4. THOUSANDS FLEE RAGING COLORADO WILDFIRE    More than 9,000 were told to leave the Black Forest, where an 18-acre blaze had destroyed nearly 100 homes.
