Jennifer Barrett joined the staff of 88.5 WFDD in the summer of 2016. Before moving to Winston-Salem, she worked as a teacher of English Language Learners in Boston. She received her B.A. in English from Mount Ida College and her M.A. in English from Wake Forest University. Her M.A. thesis explored perceptions of female voices on public radio.
Jennifer moved to Winston-Salem for graduate school in 2015. She immediately fell in love with the local culture and its atmosphere of creativity and intellectual curiosity. She began interning at 88.5 WFDD after her first year of graduate study, soon joining the voices on-air by announcing events from the station’s Community Calendar. Now, as Marketing and Traffic Manager, she ensures that WFDD's mission to inform, connect, educate, and inspire continues every day through the station's community events and engagement initiatives.
Jennifer, a longtime public radio listener, values public radio for its ability to influence and inspire, as it has done for her professional, educational, and personal life.
