Radio Camp is back!
This summer, you can still get all the fun of Radio Camp, without having to worry about what you’ll wear or what time you need to be up. That’s right, this summer, Radio Camp is back in virtual form and better than ever.
Radio Camp is the perfect program for any middle schooler (or even a high school student) that just can’t stop asking questions. Here you’ll learn how to conduct interviews using your phone and how to turn those interviews into a great-sounding feature story that might air on Saturday mornings on 88.5 WFDD!
In the process, you’ll learn how to use audio-editing software, how to write a script, how to make your interviewee sound like a chipmunk and even how to create your own fake sounds for movies and tv. Yeah, it’s not all work…we have tons of fun pushing the boundaries of what we can do with audio.
This is how it works:
Every day, for five days, we will post a new video lesson and an activity (or two). You will then have the entire day to work on it and, in order to get credit, you’ll need to submit your final work before midnight. You will then have an entire week to work on and submit your final project: A 3-minute fully produced audio story. If your story is good, it’ll air on 88.5 WFDD!
In order to get to know you better and so you have a chance to meet other campers, we will have optional Zoom meetings on Tuesday and Thursday of your camp week at 10 a.m. to do some fun audio-related activities.
Our Virtual Radio Camp will officially launch on June 2021, and we’ll have new sessions starting on:
Absolutely any middle school (and high school) student who wants to participate, can . . . no matter where they are in the United States (or the world)! We are however capping the amount of people per session in order to ensure we can give every participant the attention they require.
The price for Virtual Radio Camp is $125.
If you are currently facing financial hardship and you’d still like to participate, we encourage you to apply for our Radio Camp scholarship.
