Opening Night Reception: Sept, 14, 2017 6pm-8pm

Entanglements: Stories woven in fiber. Fiber is a medium charged with meaning in Sonya Clark's work. The artist consciously weaves together content and material by using hair as a cultural and physical medium. This solo exhibition surveys Clark's honed oeuvre and her explorations of identity, labor, collective memory and culture.

Entanglements includes new and existing works by Clark.

About the Artist
A native of Washington, DC, Sonya Clark is the Chair of Craft and Material Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, School of the Arts. Her work has been exhibited and collected by more than 150 institutions including the Museu de Arte de Brasilia in Brazil, Natal Society for Art in South Africa, Montreal Museum of Decorative Art, Goetlicher Gallery in Austria, Maxwell Gallery in Australia, Musees d'Angers in France.
