Five Row: The Lost Village of Reynolda

Community Event
Thursday, February 11, 2016 -
12:00pm to 1:00pm

Five Row was a community within a community, where African
American farm employees lived with their families, some of whom also
worked as domestics in Reynolda House. The village of Five Row was
demolished around 1960 when Silas Creek Parkway was built, but
several of its former residents recorded their memories for the
museum. We will share images, recordings, and a clip from a play
about Five Row produced in 2014 by Peppercorn Children's Theatre.
Panelists include Phil Archer, Director of Public Programs Reynolda
House Museum of American Art, and Eugenia Parent, Independent
Historian.
