In Boston, Changing Red Sox Paying Off

A shake up in the Boston Red Sox clubhouse is giving the team a strong season this year.

In 2004, the Boston Red Sox ended 86 years of frustration when they won baseball’s crown jewel, the World Series. They did it again in 2007. But then the team fell off again.

WFDD’s guest sports commentator Dave Goren is a lifelong Red Sox fan. He believes the team is giving their fans something to smile about this season.

NBA Star Comes Out

NBA player Jason Collins is the first professional athlete to announce he is gay. He played with the Boston Celtics (2012-2013). He now plays with the Washington Wizards.

Monday April 29, NBA player Jason Collins became the first athlete from a major team sport to announce he is gay. But WFDD’s guest sports commentator Dave Goren says it's no big deal.

Remembering Pat Summerall

His easy-going banter would quickly paint the sports scene and convey the excitement on the game field. But the engaging voice of sports announcer Pat Summerall will no longer be heard.
