Winston-Salem Symphony Presents Pictures at an Exhibition
With stylus in hand and aided by sophisticated new software, he’ll create enormous projected artworks in real time based on his responses to the music being performed: Dan Locklair’s Hail the Coming Day, Mysterious Mountain by Alan Hovaness, Liquid Interface by Mason Bates and, appropriately enough Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky. Concerts are Sunday afternoon, May 12th at 3:00 and Tuesday night, May 14th at 7:30pm. Music Director Robert Moody recently spoke with David Ford about the program. The music of Mason Bates brings together innovative orchestral writing, jazz harmonies and techno rhythms. In the third work on the program he’ll be adding electronics into the symphonic experience from within the orchestra.
