Greensboro Opera: La Cenerentola (Cinderella)

The story of Cinderella has captured imaginations for centuries. Greensboro Opera Artistic Director David Holley says Rossini's incredible music brings that story to life in amazing ways. North Carolina native, Metropolitan Opera baritone Sidney Outlaw sings the role of Dandini. He'll be joined by mezzo Sandra Piques Eddy (Cinderella) and tenor Andrew Owens (Prince Ramiro). Greensboro Opera's production of La Cenerentola (Cinderella) will be directed by Willie Anthony Waters who currently leads both the Connecticut and Florida Grand Opera companies. The opera opens in Aycock Auditorium in Greensboro Friday, August 28th at 8:00 PM. There'll be dinner courtesy of B. Christopher's beginning at 5:15 PM, and a Meet the Artists reception. Transportation from Winston-Salem to the August 30th performance has been arranged as well. More information is available at the Triad Stage Box Office at (336) 272-0160.

Hiss Golden Messenger

Hiss Golden Messenger's latest albumLateness of Dancers was released in September of 2014 to much critical praise. Hiss Golden Messenger is the musical vehicle of singer/songwriter/guitarist MC Taylor. His music is full of tales of redemption  and reflection in the American South. With a recent appearance on Late Show with David Letterman, it seems the Durham, NC resident's ship has finally come in.

Back in July of 2012 MC Taylor was in Winston-Salem for a concert with SECCA'sCrossroads Concert Series. Before the show he visited WFDD for a talk with David Ford, and an intimate performance, Live in Studio A.
