The unemployment numbers for February are in… and they're at least somewhat encouraging for all but one of North Carolina's counties.

According to the report released by the North Carolina Department of Commerce on Wednesday, jobless rates went down in 99 of the state's 100 counties.  All 14 metro areas experienced rate decreases as well.  Orange County had the lowest unemployment rate in February, at 5-point-9 percent, standing in stark contrast to Graham County, a small rural county on the Tennessee border, which suffered the highest at 20-point-2 percent.

In the Triad, Forsyth County's jobless rate was at 8.8 percent, ranked number 15 in the state.  That's down from 9-and-a-half percent in January, and 9-point-one percent in February of 2012.  Guilford County is at number 29, with a rate of 9-point-4 percent, down .9 percent from the previous month, and .4 from this time last year.   The Winston-Salem Metropolitan Area reported an unemployment rate of 8.8 percent… down point-7 from January… and the Greensboro-High Point metro had a 9.9 rate in February… down from 10.6 the previous month.  The new figures represent an increase of just a little more than 50-thousand in the number of workers employed statewide.
