Triad Jobless Rate Lowest in 5 Years

The unemployment rate in the Triad has dropped to its lowest rate in five years, according to a report released yesterday by the North Carolina Commerce Department.In Forsyth County, the unemployment rate has gone down 2.1% since November of 2012, from 8.6 to 6.5 percent. Guilford County saw a one-year decrease in the jobless rate of 2.2%, from 9.3 to 7.2 percent. Davidson County went from 9.8% unemployment in November of 2012, to 7.3%, a decline of 2.5 %.

The combined statistical areas of Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point saw a decrease of 2.3% from 9.2 to 6.9 percent. 

Of North Carolina's 100 counties, Scotland County had the highest jobless rate, at 13.5%.  That's 1709 unemployed, of a workforce of 12,698.  The lowest unemployment figures in the state are in Orange County, with an unemployment rate of 4.3%, or 3218 without jobs, out of a county workforce of 74,955.
