StoryLine gives voice to everyday people throughout our community as they share the experiences that shape their lives. It is a project of the ECHO network and is made possible by the generosity of Salemtowne, a continuing care retirement community, where every life shines and stories are celebrated.

In the early 90's in Winston-Salem, Kermit
Piggott was shot to death by one of his best friends. Two years later, his older brother Ben created the community wide program,  Peace Toys for War Toys, in his brother's memory. This program encourages youth to exchange their violent toys for peaceful alternatives. In this StoryLine segment, Ben shares the story of how he transformed his anger and grief into understanding and compassion.
