Take the Lead Winston-Salem is a local group of daring, high-profile community leaders who are paired with dance professionals for an evening of dynamic and entertaining performances.

In the months leading up to the big event, dancers are busy learning their routines, but they're equally busy recruiting friends, family members and others to vote early and often for their routine. That's how Take the Lead has raised more than $420,000 dollars for Forsyth County's largest emergency shelter: Bethesda Center for the Homeless. In the last five years, Bethesda Center has served nearly 1,000 of the community's homeless, assisting more than 300 in their transition from shelters to secure housing of their own. Take the Lead Winston-Salem 2013 is Thursday, April 25 at the Benton Convention Center downtown. This year 14 couples are slated to perform including Winston-Salem Symphony Music Director Robert Moody. Bob spoke with David Ford recently. He was joined by Bethesda Center for the Homeless board member and Take the Lead Winston-Salem organizing committee member Julie Hatch.
