An annual downtown Winston-Salem film festival is less than a month away. Organizers say the lineup for this year's RiverRun International Film Festival is its largest ever.

Festival program director Mary Dossinger says the films represent 165 works from all over the world. But she says there are also many works from filmmakers with North Carolina ties.

“A number of them are student films from the area, from Wake Forest, from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Elon, even UNC-W," she says. "It's pretty interesting. We have more than ever North Carolina filmmakers being represented, which is a lot of fun.”

Almost 15,000 tickets were sold to last year's festival.

Dossinger says this year's RiverRun has so many films that they added an extra day. The festival runs from April 16th through the 26th in venues across Winston-Salem.

Tickets go on sale Thursday.
