This week, Old Salem Museums & Gardens will host award-winning design, garden, and lifestyle expert P. Allen Smith for two events.

Smith hosts two Public Television programs: P. Allen Smith's Garden Home and P. Allen Smith's Garden to Table, both of which can be seen on UNC-TV. He also hosts a syndicated program, P. Allen Smith's Gardens.

On Thursday, Smith will participate in a luncheon and deliver a lecture discussing a wide variety of topics, including his personal gardens in Little Rock, Arkansas,  followed by a Q & A session and a book-signing.

Friday evening, Old Salem Museums and Gardens presents An Evening in the Garden with P. Allen Smith,  from 6 until 8. Smith's popularity is demonstrated by the fact that both of his appearances in the Triad sold out quickly.

While in Old Salem, Smith and his TV crew will be shooting several segments for upcoming episodes of his shows.  More information on P. Allen Smith, his TV programs, and his books, is available on his website: pallensmith.com

Last week, I had a conversation with P. Allen Smith, from his garden home in Arkansas.  We discussed his background, his love of nature, the garden home concept, and his enthusiasm about his upcoming visit to Winston-Salem.
