There's a new exhibit thanks to the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center along with the Alexander County Branch of the NAACP honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Maya Angelou. The exhibit is called "Daring to Soar: the Art of Courage." It's a multimedia experience in which artists from around the state have interpreted Angelou's famous words and translated the literary into the visual.

"Daring to Soar: The Art of Courage" is open now through January 30th in the Lucas Mansion Gallery of the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center located at 316 Hiddenite Church Road. The exhibit is free and open to the public as is a "Meet the Artists" reception on Sunday, January 10th from 3-4:30pm where artists will discuss the inspiration behind their works.
