The Mount Airy Museum of Regional History is gearing up for tomorrow's grand opening of the exhibit "Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America".

The Smithsonian traveling exhibition will feature History Talks, Storybook Museum for kids, and companion exhibits like the Mount Airy Sports Hall of Fame exhibit.

The exhibit opens Saturday, February 28th from 10-5. It's free and open to the public. Hometown Teams will be accompanied by several free sports-related companion exhibits, lectures and performances in March and April.

Matt Edwards is Executive Director of the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History. He says Hometown Teams is a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the North Carolina Humanities Council.
