Camerata Romeu is an all-female string orchestra from Cuba that has earned praise and renown worldwide. Its repertoire includes Cuban and Latin American chamber music, and when the orchestra musicians perform, they do so from memory. For more than 20 years, conductor Zenaida Romeu has led this string orchestra, touring internationally in Spain, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, France, the U.S, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Colombia and the list goes on. Their performances are spontaneous and energetic, consistently bringing audiences of all ages to their feet.

In Spring of 2013, Zenaida visited Winston-Salem, where she gave a talk at Wake Forest University about her life in Cuba and her experience with Camerata Romeu and Latin American Music. She also led the Wake Forest University Choir in concert, as well as the Winston-Salem Youth Symphony Orchestra. During that visit, Triad Arts Executive Producer David Ford spoke with Zenaida. Here they are talking about everything that makes Camerata Romeu the dynamic and inspiring string orchestra that has moved audiences across the globe.
