Family stories, personal narratives, myth, action adventures, tall tales - behind every great story, no matter the type, there is a great storyteller. One of those great storytellers is Joel Richards. He's head of the Triad Story Exchange. With a background in theatre, literature, and storytelling itself, Joel brings knowledge, empathy, and of course a great voice to the tales he tells.

Triad Story Exchange along with other community partners will be hosting the Heart of North Carolina Storytelling Festival September 25th and 26th in Greensboro. The Festival will feature six professional North Carolina storytellers: Linda Goodman, Donna Washington, Ray Mendenhall, Michael Reno Harrell, Vicky Town, and Naomi Faw. There will also be youth story slams, storytelling tips for homeschool teachers, workshops for the public, and more.

Joel stopped by WFDD to discuss the art of storytelling.
