Best-selling author John Grisham will be a keynote speaker at Bookmarks annual Festival of Books and Authors in September.

This year's festival will be stretched from three days to four to accommodate Grisham's schedule.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports Grisham joins a roster of more than 40 authors including Terry McMillan, romance novelist Karen Robards, and children's author Kate DiCamillo.

Most events are free, although several ticketed events will be held to help raise money to start work on a local independent bookstore.

Festival organizers say the roster has been affected by several authors who are staying away in protest of House Bill 2, which they believe marginalizes LGBT people.

Grisham is working with a group in Raleigh trying to repeal the law.

Bookmarks events will be held in Winston-Salem September 8th through the 11th.
